Plants are one of the most obvious and most often seen parts of our Biodiversity. In Australia, it has been estimated that we over 20,000 vascular and 14,000 non-vascular plants. They come in almost every shape, size and colour that can be imagined. Come and join this Project to share your images of plants and what you have seen where.

Regarding my last post, it's not easy to fix these things on Bowerbird. I got through ?5 Wood Duck sightings and gave up. But I will be there on the other side.

Hi Anna, I'm glad you've decided to join the move to iNaturalist and I hope the responses here get you over the hurdle of joining. I've been watching the transfer closely and monitoring potential problems such as taxonomic issues (on Bowerbird, species lists couldn't be updated and some were missing). So far, the iNaturalist community has been very helpful with our transferred Bowerbird records. Folks we don’t yet know are updating the species that we couldn't. Your problem was ducks – most of the Anatidae were missing – yes a big problem! I know you know the southern ducks and so do I. So, in preparation, I’m going ID all your Wood Ducks, Teal etc. back to family level on Bowerbird. And I’ll join you on the other side to get them up to species level (although I suspect there a hoard of birders who will jump in first). Okay?

Hi Anna Lanigan, this is Scott from iNaturalist. I've been helping folks with the 'assisted migration' to iNaturalist. I've put together a brief document on 'Getting Started with iNaturalist for Bowerbird Users' which includes 'Part 1: Making an iNaturalist account & requesting ‘Migration Assistance’ from iNaturalist' in PDF form: https://www.dropbox.com/s/9a6z1mz5uqfgede/Getting%20Started%20with%20iNaturalist%20for%20Bowerbird%20Users.pdf?dl=0 And Google Doc form: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Vl1RQ_e-PwsTzoCUhen7zwfc4TfNORqpci1MGdtSmG4/edit?usp=sharing I hope this helps. Also don't hesitate to email help@inaturalist.org with any questions

Hi Anna, I have an account with iNaturalist. You need a user name that is lower case and has no spaces. Mine is irene_r and my password has 8 letters, two of which are capitals. I emailed my request to have BowerBird records transferred and it couldn't have been easier. I was even able to track them via a link thanks to Scott Loariie. I'm still learning about the new site and as yet haven't uploaded any new sightings - but - if you want to email me for moral support, please do. irener@tpg.com.au

Anna, I saw your comment where you are having trouble, this is what I did. First, I made an account on iNaturalist, I had to try 3 times as it kept saying my username was already taken. Then, I sent an email to help@inaturalist.org saying I have a Bowerbird account & would like help to move my sightings over please. I told them the name I made my new account in and the name of my old one. In the subject line I just put 'to Loarie from Bowerbird user'. Hope this helps.

Can we get some instructions place somewhere so we know what to do. I just tried and failed to join iNaturalist. I'm not the sharpest tack in the IT toolbox so always new this would be a struggle. I'm so sad to be losing contact with my 3450 sightings and agree with others in a plea ...is there no way we can archive this precious resource. If I am admitted to iNaturalist how do I give the OK to transfer my sightings. I've seen others have had data moved across. How can I make this happen please????

My understanding is that you have so many records that iNaturalist will provide an assisted migration via this pathway: " If this is of interest to you or if know someone well who might be interested send/have them send an email to help@inaturalist.org with the name of the iNaturalist account (make one if your don’t already have one), the name of the Bowerbird account, and confirmation that you’d like help moving observations."
