There is an identification of this beetle larvae on this site (under search - ecnolagria grandis) and an example at http://www.rbgsyd.nsw.gov.au/science/Evolutionary_Ecology_Research/Ecology_of_Cumberland_Plain_Woodland/woodland_wildlife/invertebrate_animals/ecnolagria_grandis. Ben Harms 15 November 2014Looks like a freshwater crayfish claw. Their colour differs between orange, red, blue, pink and green. Very versatile and interesting creatures.

Megan 29 October 2013Claw found on the bank of our dam. It is a right side claw and has no red on it. Bluey colour with peachy colours in parts. We've been told there's red claw in the dam, but not sure if this is red claw since there is no red.
