    Dr Penelope Greenslade has viewed my video of this springtail and suspects it's a new species. Possibly a Wolmersleymeria or Acanthanura spp.

    Physical Description

    Collembola is approximately 8-10 mm long with short lateral red-pink protuberances and longer posterior purplish-grey protuberances; antennae are purplish-grey tipped with red-pink.

    Habitat

    Cool temperate rainforest; forest was very wet. Collembola was located on trunk of unknown tree species at approximately 3 - 4 feet above ground level.

    Seasonal Variation

    I have been back on 3 separate occasions: Sept 2015, July 2016, April 2017 - could not locate animal.

    Behaviour

    Foraging and feeding on tree trunk.

    Food

    Dr Penelope Greenslade advised collembola was feeding on slime mould in the video.
