    Taxonomy: Fungi: Ascomycota

Around 20 specimens growing as a scattered colony on a small twig that was 20cm long and 1cm thick. The stick in turn was under a little footbridge I built and was well shaded and damp. They all appeared roughly th same size with the biggest being less than 1mm across. At a distance they appeared white but looking through the lens showed them to be either almost opaque or yellowing. They were attached by a small stipe.

After a lot of searching I've found something interesting in an older reference called Dasyscyphus which seems to fit you specimen. This link http://www.ascofrance.com/uploads/forum_file/Hyaloscyphaceae-0001.pdf – will take you to an up date on redistribution over the years to its probable current name of Hymenoscyphus. Hope this helps a bit....

Thanks for the link Teresa! I've had a quick look and I will endeavour to read it through properly when I get home tonight.
