    Ramaria
    (genus)
Taxonomy: Fungi: Basidiomycota: Agaricales: Clavariaceae: Ramaria
    Matt Campbell says

Judging by the 'burnt' tips and colour transformation, I would suggest that this is an aging specimen. Having said that, it was only around 5cm tall and quite fresh in general appearance. Growing from soil under Eucalyptus obliqua and E. cypellocarpa.

Thanks Reiner and Teresa, I knew I'd read somewhere about the red tips being indicative however the description (and photo) of Clavulina vinaceocervina in Fuhrer in no way matches my specimen. I take it that Gates and Ratkowsky describe it perfectly? My copy is on loan at the moment.
