From October through to April this is one species I could add as a sighting almost every day. However, I guess we don't need that many sightings nor is it easy (at least I find in almost impossible) to ever get good shots. Over the years I've had a couple I'd say were passable and then on the 21st January this year I finally got shots I was happy with. It was almost like this little guy knew the game was over so he came down and posed beautifully. I still managed to get less than perfect photos but I think they're as good as I'm going to get. Now for that Eastern Whipbird!

Thanks Judy! I'm not sure which one I'd see most, Rufous Fantail or Eastern Whipbird. Both are quite common on our property although the Whipbirds are there year round whereas the Rufous Fantail is only here for 6 or 7 months. What's really frustrating is that I do actually see the Whipbirds, quite often in fact. But they're just so shy, quick and elusive. I've got plenty of shots but just not any I'd be happy showing, other than this one OK shot of an immature bird (http://www.bowerbird.org.au/observations/32338). I really hope that you get to see more of them and that one day you get your pic :)

What great photos! I'd love to catch that illusive eastern whip bird too! I actually SAW one last October in the blue mountians for the first time up close but it moved contantly and disappeared before I could get a photo! We hear them calling locally a lot but never see them. Judy
