    Pseudobargylia
    (genus)
Taxonomy: Animalia: Arthropoda: Insecta: Hemiptera: Reduviidae: Pseudobargylia
    Tony D. says

Subfamily Emensinae. I've elected Pseudobargylia (as Ken Harris has already suggested) as it has the long pronotum of that genus, and is best fit for known Tasmanian Emensinae genera. The only odd thing is the genus is described as apterous (ie completely lacking wings), though here it looks to be micropterous (ie developed, but small, short, and not functional).

Thanks for the ID. Note however that this was in Kakadu, NOT Tasmania. Does this change things?

I think this might be an assassin bug in the family Reduviidae. It could be in the Genus Pseudobargylia
