    Thanks, John. I think that's the answer. There are a couple of images that I found in the in the field guide which indicate the same thing. Can you ID either of my other cockroaches, 118497 and 118416?

    I've never seen a white cockroach before. This one was about 20 mm long, and I only got one image before it disappeared into the grass. Are they white when they shed their skins? Or do some have white nymphs? Or is it white for some other reason?

    Sorry Glenda, I can't help with IDs. While 118416 resembles the Drymaplenta species we get in Victoria there are some differences and according to the ALA the most northerly east coast record of this genus is from around Newcastle NSW.

    Hi Glenda, I have just posted an image showing a white cockroach next to its recently shed, dark skin. See http://www.bowerbird.org.au/observations/118536 This is one possible explanation for the colour of your specimen.
