    I think it's a Soldier Fly, Stratiomyidae Family, but am not confident enough to enter it as such. Had a browse through ALA and saw one or two with stripes, but my photos are not of good enough quality to confirm, hope someone can tell me what it is.

    I agree on Family, and belongs to the same subfamily as Boreoides, ie Chiromyzinae, but no idea of genus.
