As John told you it is Lipotriches Austronomia australica. Fantastic to see so much males roosting together. I have seen such males roosting congregation in Cranbourne but not so many. Marvelous that L. A. australica can be so numerous when the females observed very scattered don't seem so dense, but indeed they are observed on different plant flowers. Thanks again for your amazing photos.

numerous clusters were found gathered on reed stalks around 1830. The area had been well traversed for 3 hours prior to the sighting

In past years I have seen such large numbers of this species roosting along Karingal Creek. I haven't been able to properly moniter this year.
